DESKAIDE THE SILENT SECRETARY 1942

May
8
FRIDAY

Delores Stone was absent
Fair. I went to school. In the evening, Mr. Mann,
head of zoological park, got dinners for about
80 people including us at the zoo. Mother + Dad
had fish + potatoes + I had beef stew. We all had apple pie with cheese on crust. Then we all got in the circus ("Johnny J. Jones" circus)+ saw Clyde Beaty + his performing tigers + lions. It was exciting for they hated him(animals). Three clowns were good. One with a big red nose gave me a box of popcorn he took from someone. He was funny - "Droopsy" had clothes hanging on him. There was a man who could walk with his legs all twisted around him. It was good but I wanted to see a side show.
