DESKAIDE * THE SILENT SECRETARY * 1942

AUGUST

THURSDAY

Fair. In the morning. I went to store & did German, in the afternoon went over to Mabel's. I thought it was too cold for swimming but went home & dressed for it and Mabel's mother & Mabel's 2 grandmothers & Mabel picked me up in the car & we went to Brocton pond by long way. They dropped us there, we swam some, sunbathed & played cards and read Joke-book & we were picked up & taken home - Mrs. Colcord was mad because we stayed in so long we wern't dry when she picked us up that we didn't get an ice cream which makes up for yesterday's 10¢ one. We got there at 4:00 & got home at 5:30. Mother painted inside & some outside the side porch today - white.

Transcription Notes:
These two pages are so mixed up with arrows pointing to places where the sentences picks up, then goes back to the original entry. One entry goes from one page back over to the first page on left side. Took forever, even after someone else had worked on it. Latest transcriber - only change I made was "Marge" to "Mabel"
