August 22 Saturday

Fair. In the morning I worked hard. I went to store, delivered some plans to Mrs. Bruce the woman who rents a house of gradnma's got some apples from the tree in Dad's rented house + yard and did German. After lunch Mabel + I were driven to the pond by Mabel's mother with Miss Colcord. (She got up yesterday from Washington. She has designed - is about 70) and another relative is Mabel's great aunt. We swam twice X + dove in the shallow water + swam a lot under water - I can swim 15 feet or so for under water. You can't see me!! Then at about 5:30 we were picked up and taken home - on way we stopped + got milk, ice cream + buttermilk uses up yesterday's [[saved Mabel]].

[[Left margin]] When I was dropped off ate went to bed at 9:00, write life my diary every night - takes a long time.

August 23 Sunday
It rained once or twice in afternoon but sunshine after each shower.
Fair + hot. In the morning I did German + mother began to put paint on my painting she started yesterday - with red kerchief on. Lena Fawler (about 50) (whom we expected last evening) got here about 10:00. She gave me a beautiful necklace she got in California (she won by finishing a jingle a free trip to California) last year - it is short, but has 4 squares [[image]] one side blue with gold lines, one side yellow with gold line [[?]] like
-3 squares smaller [[?]] of blue stone set in [[?]] on a silver chain is lovely.

She gave Mother a mozaic pin + Grandma a long brown [[?]] bead necklace. We had a good dinner (lunch was [[?]] pie) + in afternoon I worked around home + marked Bobbie's letter, ironed, worked on my houseplan, mother washed my hair!
