DESKAIDE THE SILENT SECRETARY 1942

SEPTEMBER
7
MONDAY

We brought my illuminated dial alarm clock along.

Rainy. I was sick last night-stuffy nose, aches & deaf ear (I got from blowing nose while swimming in Mass.) and the bed was hard so I moved to the living room couch-soft and slept rest of night til 7:00. Then I dressed, ate in bed & lay around reading, knitting, manicuring, & listening to the radio until noon. Snooks is quite tame-moves around, eats, when we are moving around & watching him. Cat stays in house, exploring. After lunch I lay around the rest of the afternoon & did same as above felt better but nose still stuffy.

I got my allowance-15ยข. Had $7.18 I have $7.33 now.
                              .15
                             7.33

TUESDAY

Cloudy. in the morning I went out on the wharf & fished while mother & Dad went down the beach.- caught 9 medium sized "spot" [[drawing of fish - ears]] [[top view of fish- head]]
Then we ate and rested til 2:00. When we rode to Calvert beach (19 miles there) & stopped in Prince Frederick to shop- tried for candle but none. My nose is still quite stuffy but I am better. Then we came home, ate, & I went out & fished-only 3 fish (spot)- meant to get 4 making 13 in all but only 12 in all. Then I listened to radio, knitted, & went to bed. The cat is terribly scared of outside-he struggles & runs for the cabin. He then hides under the bed:
