DECEMBER 5 SATURDAY

Dad stayed home - cold.

Fair & cold. After breakfast mother called the Mt. Alto Hospital (on Wisconsin Ave. - on way to Miss Leubins) & found he is seriously sick with Angina Pectoris - I thought so - we had just finished studying it Thursday in Gym - about diseases of heart. He probably won't be able to continue his job - as carpenter - Poor Dolores. Mother & I went downtown at 9:30. & bought - clipped on. Then we came home & at about 2:00 Dolores came over & I went to her house & stayed all afternoon - til 5:00 - while her mother was at hospital. He is fair - has an oxygen mask - blood clot - may not have angina pectoris. Still seriously ill. In the evening I stayed home & did homework. Betty Hedrick - (was absent Thur. & Fri.) called up for homework - short & [[strikethrough]] & fain [[/strikethrough]]fair & blonde - nice.

On left page, the sentence starting "They don't think" is part of the narrative that goes from the bottom of the page, up the right margin, referring to Dolores' father.
