October 1887.

No. 19702 263 species in 729 specimens of Syrphidae from Dr. S.W. Williston, New Haven, Conn.
These are the types of Bull. U.S. Nat. Mus. 31,
mentioned in the last Report. The collection is almost complete, and by all odds the best collection of the family extant. The material of the museum from other sources will be added and arranged as soon as practicable.
This is the most valuable accession of the year.

November 1887.

No. 19758 Lot of Myriopoda & Arachnida, Virginia & N.Y. from L.M. Underwood.
This contained the balance of the material collected by Prof. Underwood while in the employ of the Museum.

No. 19811 Miscellaneous lot of Insects from Truxillo Hunduras, collected by Chas. H. Townsend, U.S. Nat. Mus. Contained a considerable number of bright and attractive species representing some of the more common species of the locality.
