the northwest head of the strait. [[underline]]East [[/underline]] Head is on a low grassy bluff on the opposite side, on its highest point. [[underline]] Range [[/underline]] signal is on the north side of Range Island and is nearly in a N and S line with the end of sand-point. Lastly Popoff signal is on a low point to the SE of the island. Further particulars in relation to the position of these signals must be deferred until they are determined with the exception of Sand Point and Range signals which are after the bilateral pattern, they are all flag signals, removeable at pleasure so that the theodolite can be placed in their exact position.
