The wind has died out nearly calm [[Geo?]] Adams went to [[Belkoffsky?]] + [[Kapus?]] to take the place at the islands which had been held by Mackintyre by the [[str?]] which left Aug 21. The two Mack's are going down? Evening cloudy calm. ebbtide runs through the S channel here. Go over to the ice Company's place and Call on Mr. [[Hemper?]] who gives us some later papers than we have seen. 9 P.M. bar 29.500

Strong NW wind, with broken clouds + occasional gusts of rain. Go ashore and try obs. for time but the wind and clouds interfere with our operations and we have to close them. Afternoon blows very hard in squalls from the mountains to the westward. Work over plat of Porpoise Harbor + finish it. About 6 P.M. the Schr. Annie HK+Co comes in but it is blowing so hard in spells that we do not board her or go ashore all day except for a short time in A.M. as above. See Plac. Macroschisma + Argobucc. on the beach + pickup a few shells for memoranda though there is nothing interesting except a var. of Card. Laperonsii. 9 P.M. bar. 29.374 has
