Lieut: I have the honor to suggest the following changes at the Employment Office 394. North Captl Street, that Harrison Harris now employed as messenger for Mrs. Griffing be discharged - as my mounted messenger can do the necessary work for all the office and that the man Harris be employed to drive the Cart  Home at East Captl Barracks thereby saving $30 per month his present pay & $10 per month difference in pay as messenger & Cart driver. Mrs. Griffings office can be visited twice each day - which will enable her to communicate with this office quite as often as necessary.

I have respectfully to request Authority to make the above mentioned changes.

I have the honor to suggest the following changes in the Employees at Wisewell Barracks that John. H. Laskey be discharged as Watchman to date 3" inst. that H.S. O'Neal be appointed in his stead that in addition to the duties of Watchman he (O'Neal) assume the duties of Transportation Agent - [[?]] M.J. Manning. sent to Miss. - that Mr. O,Neal in addition to the pay of Watchman $30 be paid for his services as Transportation Agent - $20 per month - as these duties will occupy his attention most of every day and 5 nights of the week till 9. o.c. P.M. at the Depot of Balt' & Ohio R.R.

Sir: Your several letters (of late dates) one of 14" inst is rec'd. I have to say in Answer that no Freedmen have been sent to your Firm at Cairo W. Va. since June 1867 - the exact No. I cannot now state (unless by reference to Books) but think about (40) Forty. We shall not forward again unless by Your Order.
