[] No 2 Vol 61. O.L.S. 973. []

Respy returned. with the statement that after the transportation was granted as within stated, Mrs Griffing sent word to this office that Henry Copeland was unfit to be sent to Mr. A. L. Baldwin. Bethel Com. (his employer) as a full, or able hand he being partially deranged and she requested to be allowed to send him as a part hand to Oneida. Co. N.Y. where he at one time resided. Since that Mrs G. made application to send Henry as a pauper, to the Poor house, in the above named County and State, but the Application was disapproved at this office & returned to her.

The transportation mentioned within was not used by Henry, nor by any other person, and is now in my possession.

It will be returned for Cancelation with other orders when the customary grace of ten days expire. I allow ten days from the end of the month in which the transportation is drawn to elapse before returning for cancelation, since people are often unavoidably detained, but eventually avail themselves of it.

W.M. Beebe Jr.
Capt 38" U.S. Infty
Local Supt. D.C.
