2nd Vol No 1560. O.L.S. D.C. '68

Office Local Supt D.C.
Washington April 8th 1868.

Resp'y forwarded for the information of the Asst Comr D.C. - this paper was recd at this office on the 4th March - since which time I have used every possible exertion to find the man Audrey Lincoln have sent an Agent three times to Fort Baker to examinee this case but until yesterday he could not be found.
The case is reported to me by Mr. Johnson (one of my most reliable Agents) as follows -
Andrew Lincoln (Cold) does not live at Port Baker but 3 miles south of it in the country - Is 50 yrs of age, a stout able bodied man who has never intimated or expressed a wish to go to Freedmans Village - as he owns a good house & has a lease for 2 acres of land at rent of $1.50 per month - has pigs, hens &c and every Evidence of thrift & comfort - his wife is about 45 yrs of age - in good health. the grandchildren are well clothed and Large enough to assist in the cultivation of the land, while Andrew who is a Carpenter is off at work.
In fact this is the most deliberate misrepresentation
