I saw Mr. Bowen City P.M. and one of the trustees mentioned, who informed me Mr. Perkins (also a trustee of the church.) employed the colored man Gray to do the work mentioned in the enclosed communication without the consent of the other trustees and consequently they refused to pay the bill. Mr. Bowen claimed that Mr. Perkins was personaly responsible for the work and not the church. (over)
