Bureau R F and A L.
Office Ass't Supt Stafford & King Geo and
Act - Ass't Supt Spotsylvania.
Fredericksburg. Va Mch 23rd 1867.

Respy returned to
Major James Johnson. Supt &c with the information that on the 9th ins't. I reported for the second time in this case to the effect that the within mentioned child could be properly restored to her mother, as far as I can learn the child is kindly treated except (as reported before) that she is not well clothed, she has good and sufficient food and sleeps in the same room with Dr. Pullian's children.

They are however verry strict with her, which may have given rise to the report that she was ill treated.

I do not think the mother would be self supporting if sent to Spottsylvanian C.H. Va for a month or two to come.

If the mother cannot get the child without expense to the Govt. I recommend that it be left with Dr Pullian
