April 25th 1869, Submits letter of Ralph Haskins announcing the arrival of a party of colored people from Fort Monroe, who have all been furnished with home. States that the reports heretofore set afloat, that the freedpeople are abused and ill fed and false & absurd. Endorse a list of persons applying for colored servants. L.S.G

Freedman. that his wife & child came to this city in 1863, where his wife died in the same year. The child was carried to Richmond & is now with the Chas [[Clayborne?]] residing on main St and "F" in that city - Burrill has good place in Maine for his Child. - Requests transportation  for Burrill to Richmond with order or instructions to Genl Brown. assist Comf"Va" for return transportation to Genl. Brown Ass't Come Va for return transportation for Burrill & child.

Cold  that her husband Zion [[Buckley? Burkley?]], was sold to David Arnold, of Vicksburg Miss. 12 years before the war, & that he does not know of her whereabouts & is very desirous to come north, where he has a better chance to live. 
States that she has made arrangements to go to Hartford Ct. for both of them.
