J V. W. Vandenburg
Act. Local Sup't. D.C, Bureau Ref. &c.

Sir
I have the honor to report, in accordance with directions of the Local Supt, Capt, W. M. Beebe Jr. that accompanying the men sent as Barbers and Waiters to Annapolis as per, order from Capt, Luce, of the Naval Academy, I learned from Mr Swan, that all except one sent at that time, would probably pass the Surgeons examination.

This Gentleman Chief of Commissary, and Capt. Luce expressed themselves well pleased with the prompt attention to their order, and the Captain said he would at once communicate their obligations, and such suggestions as might occur to him in the matter.

Twenty seven men in all have been been received, and one rejected. Capt. Luce intimated that all the men ordered would be needed.
