Following is an account of the work accomplished in the Department of Marine Invertebrates, during the months of April and May just passed. During this time I was assisted, as heretofore, by Mr. J. B. Blish, Midshipman, U.S.N. and Mr. Charles Pearce.

The Display Collection. The cases surrounding two sides of the West Hall of the Smithsonian building, from which the minerals had been recently removed were, during this period, filled with a new series of shelves, suited to the display collection of dry marine Invertebrates, and repainted of a dark maroon-red color.
