collection of corals, echinoderms, and sponges, mounted on tablets during the past year by Mr. Hawley, has been transferred to these cases, entirely filling them, and, while the specimens have been placed together on the shelves too closely to permit of their being properly displayed, fully one-third of the collection in bulk has been excluded for the want of sufficient space. The mounted specimens of invertebrates already prepared will, when suitably, arranged, fill all of the cases now in the West Hall, after the pottery filling these on the west side, has been removed, when other collections now in the Museum and soon to be received are mounted, several additional upright cases through the centre of the hall will be absolutely necessary.
