Service of Mr Pierce. Mr. Pierce has been engaged during the month, mainly in miscellaneous office work, but he has also sorted out a considerable amount of the material recently received from Vinal Edwards, at Wood's Hole Mass. When other duties did not interfere he has been occupied in preparing the collection of descriptions of genera and species of East Coast marine invertebrates. This collection, which will consist of a series of envelopes, one devoted to each of the genera and species, and containing a description of such genus or species, for convenience of reference, will be made up of the printed descriptions cut from the volume in which they were published, when obtainable in duplicate form, and otherwise of mss. copies of the descriptions.
