the species and genera, including the figures when such exist, published in the reports of the U.S. Fish Commission and U.S. National Museum, have been prepared for the envelopes, and also many of the old descriptions of say, contained in rare volumes have been transcribed. Mr. Pierce has also assisted me in preparing the printed copy of my report on the natural history of the American lobster for the U.S. Census.

Records. But few entries have been made in the record books, during this month, the work on new collections having been mainly limitied to sorting and arranging. In the Radiate Catalogue 40 entries were made, and in the Crustacean Catalogue 43 entries.
