those received from the Gloucester Fishermen. During the summer, he had charge of the scientific records on board of the U.S. Fish Commission Str. FishHawk, and made all the temperature and other physical observations. Since his return from the summer's explorations, in October, and until December, he was employed in identifying a portion of the dried collection of echinoderms. About December 1, he was detailed to assist Lieut Winslow, U.S.N., in his examination of the oyster beds along the coast of the middle and Southern States.
