Dear Sid:

We were glad to hear your voice so close last night. It was almost like seeing you for a minute. I wish we could have known earlier that you would be back by the middle of the week. But it seemed unwise to try to get back by the end of the week before Labor Day. I feel very guilty about staying this extra week, tho:

We had a call from Maud & the boys yesterday. They stayed most of the afternoon. Maud got Lester to bring them up & walked back. I questioned her about their mother's having a boyfriend. She said before he was in the army, he was a shoe worker in Brockton by the name of Harold Daniels, and had a brother (married) in Washington and that was where the chap & Florence were
