One of the screens on the porch has broken in spite of my painting it. Doris got a new piece from Robbie Swan. Maybe I can repair it before you come.
Pete has started ripping at the shrubbery by the front of the house. There's a cat bird's nest in there, but it may be an old one. I will show it to him.
It seems very peaceful without Mrs. B. and our meals certainly go farther. I guess we shall save that $20 by her absence all right. Haven't dared tell Ma of the bonus.
I am giving Doris instruction every night after supper in the history of English literature, and doing my best to drill her - she isn't reading any, tho.
