Executive Summary 

In the following text, the Board of Regents is being asked to consider the appointment of two new members of the Board of the National Museum of Natural History, the appointment of three new members of the Freer Gallery of Art Visiting Committee, and the appointment of five new members of the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Visiting Committee. 

The Board of the National Museum of Natural History 

The Board of the National Museum of National History, established by the Board of Regents in 1989, currently has 26 members and is seeking to fill two of the remaining positions permitted. It is now proposed to appoint to the Board Senator (and Regent) Alan K. Simpson -- maintaining the tradition of having a Regent serve on this Board -- and Dr. Stanley O. Ikenberry, whose biographical sketches appear below. The following action is suggested: 

VOTED that the Board of Regents appoints Stanley O. Ikenberry and Alan K. Simpson to the Board of the National Museum of Natural History.
