My dearest little Emmie.

The pen has flown again so will have to do this with lead.

I want to explain about Graves big picture. I am not supposed to have anything to do about it. It is to be a girl with a boat loaded with flowers which she is selling. It is like this. [[image]]  The thing in the right is the girl. There on the left are [[___lings?]] and the boat is heaped up with all sorts of flowers. Of course they are the principal things as he is a flower painter. He could'nt paint the figure so I said I would do it for him. Of course he exhibits it as all his own work, including the study I made for the figure but as I get a good thing out of it I have not course to complain. Please dont say anything about my working on it so it would it around as it would not be very pleasant for brother G. 

So far I have painted the figure and part of the boat. I guess there wont be much of his work about it except the flowers by the time it is finished but wont give it away.

Mother wrote me that she had been quite ill. She seemed to be afraid that you would et ahead of her and that I would think she was worse than she really was.

It is just 3 months tomorrow in the time I start for the land of the free and I suppose that those months will fly as this one has. It dont seem as if the days were half enough to do what I want to in but I guess we [[strikethrough]] what [[/strikethrough]] will have to make them do. 

Yesterday we painted out all the morn till 2 oclock. It was just like summer. Today was not so bright but just as warm.

I worked indoors from the model but did not accomplish much. The model is all broke up with a cold. She seems to be
