My dear dear Son,

I received your letter and was very glad to hear you are all well and like the place so much.  I want to go to see you and hope to be able to later.  I had a heat stroke at Drury [?] that hot Saturday we had two weeks or so ago [[strikethrough]] I [[strike through]] so I cant stand much heat and have to stay out of the sun altogether.  But I suppose it will wear away and then I shall try and go to see you.  It is very quiet here, not even a mosquito.  Havent had any this summer, a thing unknown in the history of the country.  I dont go any where except
