[1918?]

Dear Miss Stillman: - Sept 25th 1915 -

I would much like to hear from you and also to let you know where I am. This year has been such a terrible one. I hope your mother's portrait was taken [[crossed out]] off [[/crossed out]] to America when Mr. Stillman went home. How can we regret those who have gone and reaped that terrible time. I can only envy them. Mr. Christianson told me the hospital was closed, the wounded had been evacuated. I was going to Beaufresne in August but the permission was so long in coming that I remained and escaped the bombardment of last month. I trust the last time
