Oct 19/88 -

My dearest little sister,

How I wish we have heard from you since I wrote last! You are in the very midst now of everything we have dreamed about & read about so long, & May is with you too, which is such a happy thought. Tell her I am just as glad as glad can be & I know Uncle Will is enjoying the tho't of her going with you as if he were there him self. If only you are not sold for slaves by some of those dreadful Italians, not to speak of the "robbing & [[?]]." As to the news in Uncle Will's letter I can only say that I am truly thankful in my inmost heart that it is all settled.
