I'm afraid the A's are stranded at Caudebec - We shall be awfully sour if they are not here this winter - they were such a comfort and pleasure last winter. I think Grandma's silk cord is a beauty and so cheap too. The thought of xmas makes me ache. I certainly am playing high & if I lose, it'll be a pity. I only owe you $85 and of the 89 that you are not to send for May there even be $4 left and I want you to take $2 of it and get Aunt Eliza some flowers from me. I think it would be nice for them to come in a box on xmas eve because the Drinkers come in the morning and that is enough then. I know at that season's dont get much but they please Aunt E more than anything else and I would rather even Aunt Emily did'nt know anything about it. I will send a card to go in the box - and it will be less trouble for you to get this too than any thing else. I may think of something else for the rest another time.

What a time they and I had getting home tonight in our "Odeon-Batignolles"

[] they send heaps of love to all of you. []

[[across body of letter]] Private!!!
