we had a nice evening at the Esté's on Friday— Miss Boger and Miss Rihl were there— Miss R. is a nice little thing but I roared over Aunt Eliza's question as to why I had'nt mentioned her - she was at Concarneau at the Hotel all summer and is in the photographs and the reason I never spoke of her was simply that she was'nt of enogh importance— There was also a M. just announced his engagement from America - has been " ∕ [[line to word engagement]] all summer - to a Virginia girl whose photo he used to display as 'my sister" and whom we all suspected— Our dear Radcliffe is I am afraid in the midst of the fighting in the Black Mountain campaign, and if I was sure of it I would take the Graphic regularly so as to know what goes on and see the pictures

Mr Harrison is a strange being - I think I understand him pretty well now - and strange to say am more sorry for him
