I was going to be there too. I have not got into my studio yet. Though I might have been in today, but not until today so I have used this last few days for Christmasing and the Dentists—  I have sent the box by the American Express and steamer Burgogne [[Bourgogne]], same steamer as this letter so it ought to arrive a good while before Christmas - It is pre-paid - and the man told me that for the small value of it there would probably be no duty at all or at any rate very little - as this time of year when so many christmas presents are sent they dont often look at the things—

It was fun to be thinking of xmas but hard to get any thing very small very light and very cheap too - but I would'nt for the world have missed sending some things for you all to have a little time over on christmas—
Open and look at the Riverton duds if you like - and give them to them afterwards - tied up same way - they are rather cute - and you all

might as well get a little pleasure out of them first—  I have got a card for Miss MB. and shall send one to Sam and Kate at your house and Mrs Burnham—  These xmas cards are not as plenty here as at home and there is not much choice—  Oh, if I had some money to spend and there was no such thing as Express and Duties what lovely things I could get for you all—  All but caps for Grandma - The thing I wanted most of all—  Her kind are all nurses caps and common - just as nice at home—  And the one's they call old ladies caps are just festoons of lace - I could get no end for you, and Aunt Emily, but they cost nearly as much as at home.

You had better keep that $7.00. It is well to have something on hand to pay for anything for me.
Yesterday evening we dined with the Conants at their restaurant over in the Clichy quarter and they got more than we do even for the
