cooked - nor let the top of the stove fall in and get hopelessly stuck in this crisis - and have to let the fire go entirely out and finish cooking the steak by a new one—   There is one great draw back to this kind of life here, that one cant depend on the amount of nourishment there may be on articles of food one is accustomed to depending on at home—
The best bread and milk are so "made up" and diluted - that they are not staffs of life at all—  However we are learning - and I am determined to be well fed—  other people do it and why should'nt we. The Estés help us all they can—  Florence has been up and made us a jolly little visit this evening—  Our Jean is just too sweet to live - and I think pities us from the bottom of his dear heart—
I dont know how I shall pass my Christmas but I dont care much how as long as I am not at home—  I shall think
