Miss West. So I was introduced to and shook hands with a Lord for the 2nd time in my life. He is a tall man about 35. very kind and unpretending in manner of course. We walked up through the lovely park, to the house which commands a splendid view. We saw the Lord Derby standing on the steps but he scooted when he saw us as he is crotchety and hates strangers. He is quite an old man. Lady Derby is the sister of the Marquis of Salisbury. The house is Georgian too. We walked through a small hall to a room with enormous windows that over looked the park but as we were talking to Miss West I didnt like to look around much and only got the impression that it was not aestetic and that 

Cambridge as soon as we have 'done' London. In about 10 days, Miss Kellogg and Miss Lea two of our Paris friends are going to sail from Glasgow the 9th of August and I should like to go with them. May writes that she has seen M Thomson in Paris. I shall probably see him when I go back. He did'nt give her the cake, is probably keeping it for me! This is a big house comfortable but not aesthetic. It is Georgian if you know what that is. has lots of ivy over the front, and stands near the lane where no one passes, behind there is no end of garden lawn kitchen garden woods etc. all in nice order.
