Sunday May 18 1901

My dear Parents,

This week I received one letter from you. Written on the 7th. the weather here has been fine, and ideal weather for work in school. Next Monday I am going to look up a studio for next fall. Shall take it from October.  [[paragraph symbol]] Monday last in the afternoon painted in the country. Tuesday it rained - Wednesday took an excursion to Clarmant. Wonder if you have ever been there. It is five miles out of Paris. A fine rolling country with valleys like Turner landscapes, long views over peaceful villages whose red roofs make splendid lines of color. Most of the valleys have carpets of wild hyacinths which makes an odd landscapes. It was odd to see purple grass as [[strikethrough]] l [[/strikethrough]] it were. Reminded me of that
