days I have completed a picture - I am sure it is my best work. Almost feel that I ought to move it out of my studio so that I cannot change it trying to reach my ideal of brush handling. I think it is a poor thing for a man to try to each time and at ince to reach his idea of the masterly. It makes art hopeless. And to keep away from a fairly good canvas is almost impossible. You remember the saying. [strikethrough] An artist [strikethrough] or a picture should be painted by two artists one to paint the work and the other with an [axe?] to hit the painter in the head at the right moment.

I start next week a portrait of myself full length. Beard and all.
My old artist and model I should not touch again until February - until March 15th I shall be rused- and a, sure of being able to select from four or five things for the exhibitions. Am tempted to send my best to London. For that is the place and chance of allowing Sargent and others seeing my best - I shall do it.

Collins is not on the co jury and I think lu is not influential in my way this year. When I complete my other work I shall photograph them and let you see them
