My dear Parents

My funds have run out. I am a pauper. Have received no money since January - I suppose it is on the disabled steamer

My credit is good --

I am working hard. Weigh one hundred and sixty nine pounds. My clothes are naturally tighter than the real style.

The weather is the finest I ever met for winter. We have had a fine season,- and now one can go around sketching out of doors.

I wish Bess could have been with me this winter. Hope she is getting much good out of her[[cheserie?]]. I like the music you sent me more each day

Transcription Notes:
I believe the unknown word may be "cheeserie", which means cheese shop in French, although it appears to be missing one "e". Or chere... something?
