[[In the margin at the top of the page]] Try to get your First son down and give him a glimpse (as his parents have for me) of home life.

          Thursday.

My dear Father -
You probably feel as grateful as I do for the generous hospitality of the Fords. I have been here nearly a week, and have met men of high positions. This pen is nearly impossible. Last night I took dinner at the Chamberlains. I had a fine evening and there met many interesting people. I get on famously in company.

Mr. F. [[?]] is going to have me send the portrait of Jack S. to the new Gallery next spring. He shows the work to all comers. The fact is if I do well enough his backing would make me a fine position here.

London is a fine place to live in and one can easily make a living

[[Left margin]] Please give my love to Mother and many thanks to you for your kindness [[?]]
