The boy singer in this church is a wonder. Never heard such smooth divine tone in my life—

Yesterday in this church at noon there were five weddings. I am holding my pen in a new 1 way.

Tuesday - I go to see my picture in the Salon. I fear I shall have to hire a force of detectives to find it.

I am anxious to start for home and shall be in London in just two weeks from now and home in about the first week in June— What a pleasure that will be for us I am planning to do some pictures there, and shall work after a short rest. I also shall see or write Walker and Reed and for expeirence [[experience]] should like to get work in St. Louis decorating some of the buildings.

I am well, and still stout but since exercising have lost a little in weight. I don't like my looks being stout a double chin doesn't

return home. ¶ I went to church this morning, generally do go to the same church - a Catholic church near my studio. The masses are always different but often rich and always artistic. I am a Catholic here. The services really impress me more than an inartistic Protestant meeting. I do not care to know the views of most of our ministers especially for one hour; and in these church [[sic]] you have one round of fine color boys voices and organ music and only a few words regarding special contributions, altho today being elections all the Churches in Paris lectured there [[their]] flock and implored them to vote for the Churchmen. It seemed unjust to me. The Church here and army are nearly all Royalists, but to night they have been turned down and the thirty year old Republic of France is liable to continue——
