affair. It would not be fair  But was it wise to present the girl with head-turning gifts when she had enough simple things fitting her place in life. Was it delicate to introduce and drag Mrs. S.- into the affair before knowing all about the girl. It may not have been delicate but it turned out to be the right and only thing to do in order to prevent misrepresentation and gossip.

In just this way things kept getting more and more complicated. Sisters being drawn into it was not my doing - and I was greatly put out about it — Everything seemed beyond control and in the hands of madame Agashe and the girl - thro' our ill and morbid friends unwise haste and action.

Eventually things seemed to clear. I was thankfull when the Stallknechts left—

But the girl soon turned up. - We heard all sides of the story. Telegraphed Mr. S. the news of her being here and asked if wished to continue his aid; to wire us.
