Paris, Sept 23rd. 1901
My dear Mother;-
I came back to Paris last night, after having spent a full week in London. I am very glad that I went, tho it cost me $40. After carefully visiting the galleries there I am able to make a comparison of French, German & English art. I think the English better on the whole than the German. The pictures of Turner, Burne-Jones, & [[R...?]], & the tapestry from the form of Wm. Morris instructed me greatly. One day I visited [[strikeout]] Oxford, and saw the wonderfully fine piece of tapestry, designed by Burne-Jones, & made by Wm. Morris & Co. I do not know whether you and Father went to Oxford or not. The town & old college buildings are beautiful & most picturesque. I do not send post cards from London, partly because you know all about it, but chiefly because the assortment of cards, both in Paris & in London does not seem to be as good as in Germany where everybody has the postcard fever. Shall begin to send them from the Rhine the end of this week

Attended the memorial service for Presd [[President]] MicKinley Thursday I ‘St. Pauls’. Forty minutes before the [[strikethrough]]door was[[/strikethrough]] service the doors were closed signs hung out that the church was full. Dined at the National Club with Mr. [[Boure?]] & Mr. Pritchard.
