I suppose I should have known better. At least I have the consolation of knowing that I can always sell it for as much as I paid for it and someone else may think it a fine present if you dont care for it.
 
There were only three people at the hotel at Carnac: two frenchmen and an American from California who has been a student of archaeology and especially Celtic anthropology at Oxford England. He did not impress me very favorably as he talked to much of the importance of the work he was doing etc on five minutes acquaintance. My impression was probably a prejudiced one as I never have liked college students who say we of Yale or Oxford we etc. (We of the kingdom of [[kugelous?]]).
