Fontainbleau July 9th. 1910.

Dear Grace,
It is another dark rainy looking day, I have given up the idea of painting this morning so I'll write to you instead. You know I said that all the sketches that I make here would be for you, if this keeps up I'm afraid that you are not going to get any. What seems strange to me is that the nights should be so very clear but I think that I did [[crossed out]] you before that the night is the best time of day in France. Tonight Im going to the Opera with Jo. to see the Russian dancers, They extended their stay stay another week; am glad that I shall see them again, think they are wonderful. Lucius and her sister are going to night, [[crossed out]] also [[crossed out]]. I know you would enjoy seeing them, am sorry that you cannot. I mean the dancers. I think that seeing them would make you feel livelier than a ride in a railroad coach does. It would be delightful to lie in you arms this minute and forget this dam weather, The woods and clearings here are very fine,
