Dear John-
The reason I didn't write you all summer is just this- things have been going so rottenly that I just didn't have the heart. Nothing interesting to write about. My work was all broken up, and when I did have a chance to work, it was next to impossible to get models. 
At that I got some fairly good work done but only under difficulties. At present I am looking after my family and shall take them home the last of this week. Then I suppose I'll be busy in Washington for a couple of weeks
