used the term occasionally it could answer, & suppose I made a "mess" of it - but made a brave effort to conform to the custom, the royal subject was so beautifully democratic, that I felt as if I was sort of forcing the "Majesty" end of the interview !

I had in my portfolio three or four reproductions of some of my portraits, I asked if I might show them to his Majesty, said "he would be pleased"

Also had pictures of the three boys, which interested him — he remarked on Jerry's heighth [[height]] and bearing said Wendell "Has a resolute air—    Told him of Jerry's
