it was going to be hard to get steamship passage early in Sept. but some one may cancel their stateroom- & if you could arrange to get first chance it would be fine- but of course you know that- 

We read in last nights paper that Pershing was to return on first boat after Aug 31st & so he will be in this country- & may be in Cal. as his home was in San Francisco.

I do hope you get his portrait to do at your convenience- It goes way ahead of Orlando- but you poor dear have a load
