Dear Emma + Kids,
Today I received two letters and day before yesterday, 1 from you. these are the first letters received for  more than three weeks, for the last two weeks I have been entirely lost to our Headquarts, we have been following up the Fritze so fast that and in [[orphen?]] to been neen the lint all the time. I was continuenly changeing from one division to another. I just see in your letters that you recieved the news about my donkeys. Well as long as the war last they were fast enough. at one time for ten days. it wat quite hot enough. under shell fine + gass to go a slow donkey pace.
