Status of Pending Legislation on Three Additional Regents

The Secretary advised that the bills appointing John Paul Austin, Robert F. Goheen, and A. Leon Higginbotham, Jr., as citizen members of the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution became enrolled bills on May 4, 1972, and are now pending approval by the President.

The three new citizen Regents have been invited to join the Regents at dinner following this meeting.

NOTE: On Wednesday, May 11, 1972, the President signed the above bills now designated as Public Laws which approve the appointments for each Regent for a term of six years:

Public Law 92-291, John Paul Austin

Public Law 92-292, Robert F. Goheen

National Armed Forces Museum Advisory Board - Status Report

Mr. Brown reported that on June 24, 1971, Senator Anderson (for himself and Senators Scott and Bible) introduced S. 2153 and on August 3, 1971, Representative Bow introduced H. R. 10311 -- identical bills to: 

• establish Bicentennial Outdoor Museum

• designate the study center authorized under section 2(a) of the Act of August 30, 1961, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Institute for Historical Research
