I wrote you yesterday about the remuneration and after all I am sorry now to have written you this letter. - My letter was premature to say the least of it and now it is my duty to make a clean breast of the whole business. 

I had written Dr. Mestre a letter, about 10 days ago, requesting him to let me have $50.00 in order to visit Havana to look for a situation over there and at the same time to assist with the publication of the translation. - A few days, after this letter was written, I repented already and requested the Doctor to let things as they are, but notwithstanding, he is sending me now a cheque of $25.00, promising me another cheque of
