February 28, 1924. Mr. Harry E. Hurst, U.S.M.C. Santiago, Dominican Republic, W. I. (c/o Postmaster, N.Y.City.) Dear Mr. Hurst:- Your letter of January 31st came safely. I have been waiting for the pottery before replying, but as if has not yet appeared, I'll write anyhow. I note what you say about remittances, and will see that your wishes are carried out next time. I have my plans drawn up for submission to the Dominican Government, but will wait as you suggest until things are more settled before starting the ball a-rolling. When is the election due? Please answer this, as it is important. As for coming down for a preliminary view, it might be a good plan, although I feel certain that our work will be well repaid. I should like if possible to work in accord with the Government as I did in Cuba. The other way may be more fun (I've been there!) - but it's risky. I am not referring to personal danger, although that exists to a certain extent, but to the danger of losing the hard-won collections. Hoping to receive the pottery soon, and with kindest regards, I am Sincerely yours, MRH-m
