Sept. 15th 1865

Know All men by these Presents that I, Benjamin Watkins of Anne Arundle County State of Maryland held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the sum of Two Hundred ($200) Dollars for the payment of which I bind myself, my heirs, executors and administrators firmly by these presents in this contract, that I am to furnish the persons whose names are subjoined (Free Laborer's) full substantial and healthy rations, Quarters, and all necessary attendance not Medical in case of sickness, and the amount set opposite their respective names per month, monthly, during the Continuation of this Contract, this Contract to be broken only by mutual Consent. And it is Expressly understood between said parties that (25) twenty five per cent of the wages of said Employee are to be retained until the termination of this Contract.
