Sept 16th, 1865

Know all men by these presents that I Edward Hurburt of Prince George County State of Maryland, held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the sum of 200$, Two Hundred Dollars for the payment of which I bind myself my Heirs and Executors & administrators firmly by these presents in this Contract that I am to furnish the persons whose names are subjoined (free Laborers) quarters, full substantial and healthy Rations and all necessary attendance and supplies in case of sickness, and the amount set opposite our respective names per month monthly, less 25 per Cent which amount is to be retained until the termination of this Contract by said Employer (Edward Hurbert,) then to be paid in full, this Contract to be broken only by mutual consent.
